The letter V seemed equally hard as the letter W. The inspiration came from a tree outside the front of my house. These last Autumn days gave the rest of the inspiration.
I thought of many ideas for the letter X, but in the end I chose an old fashion icon to represent the letter. Maybe it is my Dutch roots or I am motivated by the green movement with it push of wind power.
Over the years in doing concepts for greeting cards I have become intrigued with type and lettering as design. So as a fun exercise I am starting off with Z and work my way to A.
I think I must be pondering this in my subconscious. This week has been a struggle and it seems that I have reflected it here. It didn't start out that way. It started out with a rose.
I came across an old photo of my dad and I at the beach yesterday. It is amazing what a photo helps one to recall. He was helping me brave the waves. He was always there for me to give me support and good advise. A true blue father in every way. I miss him a lot.
It has been cold this week. So cold I wore my light weight WINTER jacket. What happened to spring? Who turn off the heat? Here is hoping tomorrow brings back the warm caress of spring.
For those that don't know me, I am a designer and illustrator. I think mostly in images. I did this illustration above for Lovely Clusters as a pictorial way of introducing myself. Here above and below are my two recent posts of my work. I work in all kinds of media. These two are digital collages. I hope you enjoy. Also for your enjoyment check out some of my favorite links.
Rain played softly on my skylight inspiring this illustration. I keep promising myself to do creative illustrations outside of my day job as a greeting card designer. Some of that rubs of here though. I noticed that what I do at work influences my personal illustrations at home.
