Have a Jolly Holly Christmas!

 Christmas Santa Mug

Inspired by my Christmas Santa mug collection, I started to play with doing a whimsical illustration of one. Some of the Santa mugs I have are antiques as they belonged to my mother.

It was fun creating this as it brought back many Christmas memories. I hope it brings a smile to you!

Wishing you all the best during this Holiday Season!

J is for Jack Russell

 J is for Jack Russell

J is for Jack Russell is new addition to my collection of alphabet letter illustrations called Alphabet Soup.

J for the Jack Russell Terrier which forms the letter J includes other elements that begin with the letter J such as the jug with the Jack Rabbit on it, Jasmine blossoms and the Blue Jay, the journal book, and finally the color background of jade green.

Have to say J is a challenge. A fun one at that!

Makes a great pillow too for all you dog lovers out there!

Grandma's Tea Cups

 Grandma's Tea Cups

Inspired by the many tea cups from my grandmother and mother, it was fun to create this whimsical illustration.

You can find this illustration on many products like the pillow above, just click on this link: Fine Art America

Here are a few more!

Nature's Hope

 Nature's Hope

The fun part of creating art is making more than one version. Below is the first version.

That is the nice thing about working digital, you get to play. Playing gives an artist to second guess, to look and see opportunity for a different look.

I ended up liking the second version a bit more as it was a bit more natural.

My wish is either one will give you a smile.

Here is a new look from and old illustration below.

N is for Nightingale

 N is for Nightingale

As shows approach, I start to review older designs to change things that start to bother me. In the older one below, I thought to create more of a feeling of night as the sun sets revealing the moon. The bird also seemed to large in scale. Since the nest also ties into the letter N, I thought to make it larger.

That is what is nice about working digital. You can keep playing and make changes to what you create.

Spring's Promise

 Spring's Promise

Yes, it is finally Spring!
I have been waiting for what seems like forever.
In design review, I took an older design to give it more detail as well as add to it with more design elements.

Here is what it originally looked like.

That is what is nice about working digitally. It makes it easier to go back and make changes.

Above are some fun products on Fine Art America that carry my illustration.

Rise and Shine!

 Rise and Shine!

There is something about roosters.
An older illustration of one that I did in the past called to me to update it in a new look.

Country or Farm House decor is still a trend, so here is a fun morning wake up illustration to decorate any breakfast nook weather as a wall hanging or a pillow.

Moving into March

Thinking About Spring!

Bird on a Clothesline with Lilacs

Tired of winter blahs, I decided to redo and revise an older spring illustration of Bird on a Clothesline as seen below.

I liked the subject matter of my original illustration, but decided to make some changes like changing the bird and adding less rigid lilacs. The project helped to put the gray winter blahs at bay.

I also decided to create a pattern from the lilacs that you can find on some of my offerings on Fine Art America.

As you can see I love lilacs and thought they would be fun on things like shower curtains and tote bags.

C is for Cat on a Cup with a Canary

C is for Cat in a Cup with a Canary

Periodically I look at older pieces that I have created and get inspired to create a new version as you see above.

Below is the older version with a cat in a cup.

I liked this as well, but it is old habits to go back and create a new versions live on. Besides, I like cats and birds.
